THIS WEEKEND: RePurposed for a Purpose 2.0 NEXT WEEKEND: Night Rider’s Ball!

SATURDAY

REPURPOSED 2.0!

Last weekend’s Repurposed for a Purpose was a total success! That’s why 5 Points Music Foundation is doing it all over again on Saturday, May 4 from 10-2p. We’ll feature our LEGENDARY Mimosas with Fresh Fruit Fixin’s and delicious LEGENDARY Strawberries & Cream Biscuits!

We’re pulling items from our storerooms and our collections for the sale. We will also feature hand-painted furniture and arts and crafts from Assignment Ready Training, a program that uses art to teach workplace skills to young people with learning disabilities. A.R.T. is housed on the lower level of the Sanctuary.

If you missed last week’s event, this is your chance to support the 5 Points Music Foundation mission of providing group music therapy programs and raising awareness and support for those with hearing loss.

We’re looking for a few good donations. Bring us sellable items that we can turn into treasure. Think musical instruments, vintage clothing, furniture, art, etc. They will find a new purpose and will support a purpose – The Power of Sound.

We are accepting donations all week at The Sanctuary at 1217 Maple in Old Southwest Roanoke. Give us a call to make arrangements for drop offs at 540.795.5618. And take some time this Saturday to drop in, enjoy a Mimosa and a Biscuit and peruse the sale. You may just score a deal or two!

SUNDAY

MUSIC CIRCLE’S KID CONCERT SERIES

The Music Circle is proud to present our Kid’s Concert Series at 5 Points Music Sanctuary! This is a first time event for us and we will begin our concert at 2pm with some performances by our students. Next, we will wiggle, dance, and sing our way through an array of songs. Everyone is welcome to participate, Music Circle families and families that have never taken a class before. We will be using shaker eggs, scarves, and bells to dance and sing together to familiar tunes. We will be exploring some singing in rounds and parts with some popular favorites. No need to bring anything and you don’t need any special skills to participate. If you play an instrument though, please feel free to bring it so that you can jam along with us! There will be a family jam- along with instruments provided by The Circle. All are welcome to participate, no special skills required! The concert is appropriate for all ages but is geared toward toddlers through elementary school aged children and their families. This is a fun, interactive way to bond with your child and the other families in our community and spread some joy and love through music making!

OPEN MIC IS BACK!

After a short Spring Break, Open Mic Nite is back this Sunday from 5-10pm. We welcome bands, individual musicians, comedians, rappers, poets, and anyone who could use 15 minutes to express themselves on the mic. Doors open at 5pm, sign-up begins at 5:30pm, and the show starts at 6pm. We’ll have drums, a keyboard, bass, guitar, and amps available to use, but feel free to bring your instrument of choice.

WHO IS HEADTRONICS?

You may have never heard of Headtronics ’cause they are just that fresh. Christened by none other than Bootsy Collins himself at the Universal Church of Love and Music Funk Festival April of last year, Headtronics is a brand new funk collaboration from DJ Logic, Freekbass, Steve Molitz (Particle, Phil Lesh & Friends) and Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses) – a few you’ve definitely heard of.

This live-music experience is a blend of four distinct genres: electronica, jam culture, funk and rock. Featuring the musicianship of some of the best in the touring scene, this improvisational experiment evolves with each performance. The songs are built and created, live on stage. No two shows are ever the same. This danceteria playground of sound, groove, and organic melody is an immersive engagement project. The audience may be invited to call out a name for the next song, using that for inspiration for the tune. Full taping and sharing by fans is strongly encouraged.

Headtronics are headlining RIDE Solution’s Night Rider’s Ball Saturday, May 11th and it’s coming at us fast and furious! Just like a StarBomb down Mill Mountain, it’ll be here before you know it. Guarantee your seats by purchasing tickets today or pull up to the FREE Bike Valet courtesy of WFXR and get in for FREE! In fact, the VIP Mezzanine is reserved exclusively for the first 40 who arrive by bike. Thank you, Cardinal Bicycle! The Courtyard Bar will be open featuring a selection of Deschutes Brewery’s finest beverages and Hanu Food Truck’s Korean inspired eats.
