Art Rat Studio Returns w Two New Art Installations

For Halloween weekend, the featured artist is Art Rat Studio’s own Ralph Eaton. Ralph has been working on a new art project since May called Foamydelic Signifiers. Hundreds of painted foam blocks will be presented as an art lounge installation, and a limited supply will be available as Halloween treats. Foamydelic Signifiers are sculptural creations casting spells on your senses with fluorescent eye candy and visual poetry. Communicating a range of messages from the absurd to the profound, Foamydelic Signifiers will mesmerize and hypnotize everyone’s 3rd eye.

From now until Nov. 3, check out featured artist, Brian Counihan. His sculpture, “Word made Flesh,” is on display in the foyer of the mezzanine. It’s a pink papier mâché tree made out of shredded student essays, with silver-leafed votives hanging by ribbons from its branches. Although the tree shape is based on a diagram of the Indo-European language tree and is vaguely shaped like a pair of lungs, the sculpture looks like an altar of the Tree of Life. “If there is a prayer in there, it’s probably that we don’t get sick. The cost of healthcare and health insurance has gotten so bad that we may have to go back to hang votives on trees as a protection from sickness.” ~Brian Counihan
